You throw a friendly dinner party - just close friends...cool people with similar tastes and interests.  Someone compliments some of your "stuff" and you RAVE about this FABULOUS little shop you discovered!  

A few of the people you told about the shop check it out and they love it too! A couple of them actually buy stuff!  

Just as it always is, the few who bought "stuff" LOVED IT. They told the people at the gym and at the luncheon they attended about that very same "great new local shop" that THEY fell in love with, that a friend of theirs recommended. By the end of the next week that local shop recognized a significant cashflow increase, and they had 10 new happy, excited, and hopefully repeat customers. Customers who are telling others about their shop and the cool "stuff" inside!  

You go to your mailbox on Friday afternoon and there is something from the shop. It's a Thank You card with a check inside. You smile, feeling appreciated and rewarded.  Simply Happy. 

 Okay... now wake up...get a grip...it'll NEVER HAPPEN.

Or better yet, let me say, it DIDN'T happen with the local shop. It also didn't happen with that MASSIVELY successful "free eMail" provider you discovered or that new online Community of "Buddies", who brag about their millions of members in just a few months. Between just those TWO companies and the invitations you personally sent to 20 members of your family, AND set up a "group" for your graduating class at your last reunion (numbering 250 members), 200 of which signed up for the free eMail program, of which 50 upgraded to paid services, of which 10 members set up groups and referred THEIR graduating college alumni groups, and so on... and so on...
